Advanced Science Club
Once or twice a week students shall tutor other students in various sciences. This community service club is designed to help students who need assistance with passing the science proficiency as well as students who need assistance with their advanced science classes.

AP Club
This club is designed to be a stress release for students taking one or more AP classes. The club will meet on Fridays and play board games, watch movies, etc. We also fund raise to help offset the cost of the AP exams.

Asian Cultural Leo Club
The overriding purpose of this club is to unite all students interested in the Asian Culture and to provide assistance for those students so that they can be connected with the diversity of the Asian cultures through music, language, socialization with Asian students, food and so much more. In the process, the club will exhibit many aspects of Asian cultures by conducting Food Fairs, presenting guest speakers, and conducting/attending- Asian shows. Also, the club will provide community services to the surrounding area.

Book Worms Anonymous
The objective of BWA is to discuss novels that interest everyone in the club. We will also discuss different cultures and music. The most important aspect of the club is to bring diversity and friends together.

Chess Club
Chess club is designed for players of all experience levels. Members of the chess club may play for recreation or join the chess team and play competitively. The chess team members can qualify for Varsity or Junior Varsity honors as they compete for Coronado against other schools. The club is entertaining and worthwhile for beginners and experienced players alike.

Close Up
Close Up is for all CHS students who are interested in the governmental process and how it functions. Various worthwhile activities are held during the school year which will lead to an annual visit to Washington D.C., where students meet with others from all over the United States to enjoy a fun-filled learning experiences.

This is a year round club that builds robots for fun and also for competing in the National FIRST Robotics Competition.

Coronado Signing Cougars
This is a place for students who know or want to learn American Sign Language to socialize with other students with the same interest. Community service and fundraising for the deaf community of Las Vegas and Henderson will be the focal point of this group.

Cougar Fitness Club
The Cougar Fitness Club will meet weekly to discuss healthy life choices, nutrition and exercise programs. We will have weekly group exercise adventures; whether we are playing a good game of kickball or jogging through Seven Hills, fun is sure to be had by all.

DECA
An Association of Marketing Students, DECA is a business-oriented organization for high school students interested in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students develop skills and competencies for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership, and involve themselves in the community. DECA maintains a series of chapter, state and national competitive activities, all designed to stimulate and motivate classroom interests, career encouragement, and vocational competencies. Awards and scholarships are also available through state and national levels of DECA.

Drama Club / Thespian Society
Drama Club welcomes new members who are interested in spreading the word of the importance of performing arts in our community. This club fosters a love and appreciation for theatre arts through community service, fundraising, and numerous club activities. Thespians/Drama Club also gives away a scholarship every year to a student who chooses to continue on with their study of theatre arts. The drama club also aids the theatre department at Coronado High School during productions and various activities. Students also have the opportunity to earn Thespian points to be part of the International Thespian Society which is the honor society for theatre.

The Coronado Environmental Club will expose members to their natural surroundings through various outdoor activities while strengthening their appreciation for and understanding of environmental concerns society currently faces.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
FBLA is offered to students interested in business. The organization promotes a better understanding of business and community interaction as well as the development of leadership skills. Members raise funds, go on field trips, host guest speakers, become involved in community service and social activities, and compete in state and national business-related events.

Fellowships of Christian students are willing to learn more about God and serve others. Their purpose is to become positive role models and to create an atmosphere of strong moral values, self-esteem and dedication to helping those in need.

Forensics
Forensics is designed for the motivated student seeking the opportunity to study and improve public speaking skills and techniques and apply those techniques to argumentation and individual speaking situations. There are two primary goals in Forensics. The first is to provide the skills necessary to not merely be competitive, but to excel in all tournaments and competitions. Perhaps a more important goal, however, is to lay the foundation for powerful interpersonal communications skills which will help you succeed throughout your personal and professional lives.

The French Club is open to all students interested in the French language and the various cultures of the French-speaking world. Meeting and activities are intended to provide opportunities to explore the many foods, films, and lifestyles associated with France and the French-speaking world.

Humane Society of CHS
The purpose of this club is to:
1. Help spread animal cruelty awareness.
2. Promote spaying animals.
3. Fundraise for food for animal shelters.
4. Bring up current events and determine what we can do to help animals.
5. Perform community service. This is a true animal lovers club!

Key Club
An affiliate of Kiwanis International, Key Club is a service organization of over one hundred members dedicating to bettering their community. Key Club helps out in elementary schools, hospitals, libraries, and nursing homes, and in making food for the homeless, in disease walks such as the Asthma Walk and Relay for Life, and in raising funds for Shade Tree, St. Jude’s, and Special Olympics, and much more. National Arts Society
The purpose of this chapter shall be to ensure that those students who have shown outstanding ability in art are recognized, to foster excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art. To further creative abilities and talents of the Society’s members, as well as the school’s entire student art enrollment. Students will aide members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in any art area. They will bring art to the attention of the school and community. Members will increase an awareness of art in relation to other areas of the school curriculum and to further aesthetic awareness in all aspects of the school’s total program. Requirements: Must have had at least one semester of art in High school and achieved an A or B.

Newspaper
The Coronado High School newspaper, The Coronado Roar, is comprised of students enrolled in Journalism II. The class is designed for students who have completed Journalism I and wish to use the skills they learned to help produce the school newspaper. The newspaper is funded by selling advertising space to community businesses.

PSAT/SAT Prep Club
The PSAT/SAT Prep Club is a club to help the students at CHS get better scores on their PSAT and SAT tests. Members will get vocabulary lists, verbal/writing/math worksheets, and other materials that will help them. A small fee may be charged for workbooks.

S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is an organization whose primary objective is to educate, discourage, and prevent students from drinking, driving and engaging in any form of substance abuse. They organize various projects and welcome students of all grade levels.

Sun Youth Forum
The Sun Youth Forum is an annual event hosted by the Las Vegas Sun each November. This event allows over 1,000 high school students from all over Clark County to interact with each other through discussions led by a moderator. Topics include America, Around the World, Home in Nevada, Law and Crime, Potpourri, School Days, and Teen Topics. Each high school in Clark County is allotted a certain number of participants. Participants must be in their junior or senior years.

Teenage Republicans
The purpose of this organization shall be to bring young people into the Republican Party and to provide an opportunity for them to find political expression and recognition, to foster and encourage the activities of the Republican Party and to promote its ideals. Also, to collect, analyze, discuss, and disseminate information concerning political affairs and political philosophy; and, to advise, coordinate, and promote the activities of Teenage Republicans.

Underground Ping-Pong Federation
The underground Ping-Pong Federation is an organization dedicated to the education and advancement of the art of table tennis. Members will learn both Western and Chinese paddle grips, advanced spin techniques, and various offensive strokes and counter drives. Beginners to master ping-pongers are welcome!

Varsity Quiz
Varsity Quiz is an inter-school scholastic competition. Selection of team members is based on the results of a written test, an audition in a simulated game, and academic eligibility based on the current Clark County School District regulation.

Yearbook
The Yearbook Staff is comprised of students currently enrolled in Publications II. These students create a 320 page all-color yearbook that has a spring delivery. They are also in charge of producing a DVD extension of the traditional yearbook, which will be mailed home to students in the summer. The DVD will cover prom and graduation among other things.

Yoga Club
Practicing yoga has been shown to promote many health benefits, such as increasing flexibility, reducing stress, and increasing muscle tone. The objective of this club is to practice yoga so students can gain these benefits. Students who wish to participate will need to bring their own yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing.

The purpose of The Young Democrats of Nevada is to pursue the ideas of liberty, justice, and freedom for all regardless of race, religion, or sex. We shall pursue these ideas through support of the Democratic Party and its ideas, ideals, and candidates.
