Read 180 is an intensive reading intervention program designed to improve the skills and raise test scores. This heavily structures course consists of four individual parts: (1) whole class and (2) small group instruction meant to target specific reading, writing, grammar, and analysis skills, (3) independent reading, and (4) individualized computer literacy instruction in phonics, decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling. This course reinforces the application of the reading process and writing processes and continues to develop students' abilities to apply appropriate strategies and resources in a wide variety of learning situations. This course fulfills one of the four English credits required for graduation and one elective credit in reading. |
